Every year, Orvis tests fishing lines from manufacturers around the world. The nylon monofilaments undergo numerous treatments that give them unprecedented levels of abrasion and tensile strength. Among the dozens of lines tested by Orvis, the Japanese nylon monofilament that replaces the old Superstrong outperforms major brands like Rio Powerflex and Trout Hunter nylon of the same diameter in real-world conditions. The knot strength tests conducted by Orvis were carried out according to very demanding specifications. The lines were tested wet to best reflect real-world conditions, particularly with the "spoon" knot, one of the most commonly used by anglers. "It seems obvious that anglers use their line in the water unless they're trying to scare the birds!" From trout to bonefish, the
Superstrong Plus nylon line
covers a wide range of fishing situations. TheOrvis Superstrong Plus
fly fishing line offers the best knot strength and abrasion resistance with exceptional diameter consistency. X-rayed, diameter variations are imperceptible; the strength of this Orvis line is extremely consistent. Unlike many nylons, theSuperstrong Plus
line is less sensitive to water absorption, which significantly improves its knot strength. The polycarbonate spool has a width that prevents the line from retaining its shape. The elastic dispenser features line size markings by diameter for easy identification of the desired line size on a spool holder. All 100m Superstrong Plus spools have an integrated cutter for easy line trimming. FEATURES: Monofilament nylon. High knot and snag strength. Supple and memory-free. Very consistent diameter. Good elasticity. Discreet. 100m spool with integrated cutter. Elastic dispenser.
