JMC's
Grey Partridge Feathers
have a particularly interesting natural pigmentation for making tails, collars, and wing cases on artificial flies. River anglers appreciate the effectiveness of wet flies with collars made of grey partridge fibers. Simply make two turns of feathers using hackle pliers, orienting the fibers backward, to obtain a light, mottled collar that will vibrate underwater. Fish are receptive to the swimming action of these natural fibers, which resemble insect legs or wings depending on the imitation. It's possible to take a few fibers from a grey partridge feather and attach them to represent tails, but nymph tiers also attach a few fibers to each side of the thorax of a mayfly larva imitation to represent the ridged legs. JMC grey partridge feathers will allow you to create numerous fly patterns with a natural appearance and formidable effectiveness.
