JMC Ostrich
TheJMC ostrich feather
is a material used in tying artificial flies for underwater fishing. Ostrich barbs are unique in that they are covered with microfibers that quickly absorb water and vibrate in response to retrieves or currents. This material is used wrapped around the hook shank to imitate the abdomen or thorax of a gill-bearing aquatic larva. Numerous applications are possible; in stillwaters, sight nymphs tied withJMC ostrich barbs
are incredibly effective. Salmon fly tiers also use ostrich feathers for the body and sometimes the wing of streamers.
